BRILLIANT WEEKEND FOR HARRY AND CAROLE ...
Article Published : 23/09/09
HARRY WICKHAM had a DOUBLE win on Sunday in the Prestatyn Races.. He won the morning hill climb in a near record time of 14'54" with second place at over 1/2 a minute.. He then went on to win the Crit in an exciting sprint for his first ever ROAD WIN !! WHAT A WEEKEND HARRY !!
CAROLE GANDY kept up her amazing season with two great rides.. She pushed out a 2.02.35 on Saturday in a 50 mile TT and then capped it off with a truly amazing 57'13" on the Sunday... All this at 65 years of age.. YOU ARE AMAZING CAROLE !!!
DAVE fared a little less well in the Cumbrian Killer.. Although he felt as strong as he did before his crash in Denia two years ago, and although he rode with an Elite Rider.. Gavin Evans, they went 20 minutes off course when they missed an arrow (completely their own fault!) and missed the fastest time by 10 minutes... As Dave says "It's only a Sportive"! But that must be gutting !! DAVE LOVED THE EVENT AND IS NOW HAVING SECOND THOUGHTS ABOUT RACING AGAIN OR WHETHER THE SPORTIVES ARE ENOUGH TO KEEP HIS COMPETITIVE INSTINCT ALIVE... SEE BELOW !!
FROM DAVE ..... "I have been giving my return to racing a lot of thought and I am not totally happy with my original decision... For a start it has been giving me sleepless nights and my heart is acting up again which it hasn't done for ages now... Whether this is because of the thought of racing again or not is a moot point, but it seems symptomatic! I have also had the Media on my back which I suppose I expected, but I really just wanted this to be low key... AS IF ??? I think I may just stick to Sportives or leave the decision to race until next year... So I don't think I'll be racing until next year whatever happens now! It's a big step to take and at the moment I don't think I'm ready.."
