"What a fantastic week we have just had with a diverse group of athletes at Terry Bell's Training Camp in Arnside in the Lake District.. This must have been one of the best Camps I have attended.. The weather was just magnificent and the rides were superb. One day we did the reverse of the Howgill Hammer Sportive and the next the reverse of the Cumbrian Killer Sportive.. This was the highlight of the week for me as it went over the Hardknott, the Wrynose and then the Struggle, before descending the Kirkstone back to the finish. The scenery just took your breath away (when you could watch it!) and the sun just shone in clear blue skys all day... JUST BEAUTIFUL !!
We stayed at the YHA in Arnside which is more like a 3 star hotel than a Youth Hostel with great food served every day. As with all Terry's Camps the organisation was second to none and a big thanks to our two leaders on the road each day, Calum and Sam, who did a great job. Everyone had a superb week of training and I had loads of "THANK YOU'S" ... "IT'S A PRIVILEGE TO RIDE WITH YOU!" etc.etc. which is unusual at any Training Camp, where moaning seems to be the order of the day by some !! BUT, there was none of that and we had one of the friendliest Camps I've ever attended... JUST GREAT ... There was also an added bonus for me where I discovered a rare talent in one of the girls attending and have taken her on as one of my athletes... She is new to the Sport and is just a "Brilliant Natural Talent"... ALLI HOLLAND... Watch for that name ..... She also has a BRILLIANT attitude and just so "BALLSY!" ... LOOK OUT!!
All in all a wonderful week of training and memories for me that will last a lifetime... Thanks to ALL involved.. YOU WERE ALL GRRRREAT!!!!! "

Nathan Thompson joined Dave last November and has wintered really well.. He went to the Training Camp in Spain and was going very, very well... He had a PB of 1.01.48 for 25 miles last year.. IN HIS FIRST 25 THIS YEAR, "THE BEDFORDSHIRE 25", NATHAN IMPROVED BY OVER THREE MINUTES TO RECORD A LIFETIME BEST OF 58' 33" .... JUST BRILLIANT NATHAN !!
Matt Howitt did a fabulous ride in the RAVENSTHORPE 10 mile TT when he was a not too distant second to ED CLANCY... What a ride MATT !
Kara Chesworth and new recruit Alli Holland did great rides in the first Ladies Team Series in Twickenham when they BOTH got in the break of the day only to be brought back on a flat uninteresting course (as per!!!!) But Alli took some Primes and Kara got an excellent SIXTH in a mass sprint of 80 riders... WELL DONE YOU GUYS!!! JUST LOOK OUT IF THESE TWO GET TOGETHER IN THE CHESHIRE CLASSIC NEXT SUNDAY AND RIP THE FIELD TO BITS !!!
