KARA TAKES NATIONAL ROAD RACE SERIES WITH A RACE TO SPARE !!!!
Article Published : 01/08/10
KARA has sealed victory in the Season long NATIONAL WOMEN'S ROAD RACE SERIES with a race to spare in what was her first ever STAGE RACE.. YIPPPEEEEEE!!
PLUS.... NEW RECRUIT, ALLI HOLAND PLACED A FANTASTIC 7th IN HER FIRST STAGE RACE TOO !
This weekend was the Essex Giro 2-Day and consisted of a Time Trial on Saturday morning, a Crit on Saturday afternoon and a Road race on the Sunday. There were some bizarre (according to Dave) time bonuses.. BUT, Kara absolutely BLITZED the Time Trial around Hog Hill to beat her closest rival in the Series, Natalie Creswick, on a wet and tricky circuit to win by 14 seconds.. AMAZING.. Then in the Crit which split the field to bits, Kara punctured with 2 laps to go, so missed out on any points going. She made ammends on Sunday though by finishing a closely fought sprint to take 2nd place and just miss out on the win by ONE SECOND... In fact the bonuses were so complicated they awarded Kara the Winner's Jersey to start with , only to find out they had miscalculated the points and had to demote Kara one place to SECOND OVERALL... OUCH!!
The "double act" worked really well together again with ALLI HOLLAND TAKING A WELL EARNED 7th PLACE.. Dave would love to get these two girls into a full on racing team TOGETHER in 2011,,,, WHAT A PAIRING THEY WOULD MAKE !!!!
THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THIS RESULT SEALS THE NATIONAL SERIES FOR 2010 AND...
KARA IS THE WINNER !!!!!!....
CONGRATULATONS TO HER ON A VERY WELL DESERVED TITLE... DAVE IS "OVER THE MOON".. OR "VERY HAPPY" IN NORMAL SPEAK..
YOU ARE A STAR KARA ... NOW FOR THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES ...
NOT BAD FOR A 38 YEAR OLD FULL TIME HOUSEWIFE WITH THREE CHILDREN AND A VERY SUPPORTIVE HUSBAND TO LOOK AFTER ... WELL DONE PAUL TOO !!
JUST SHOWS WHAT CAN BE DONE WHEN YOU WANT SOMETHING "ENOUGH" !!
