Two of Dave's best younger riders are spending the winter out in Denia where Dave holds his Training Camps. Simon Thomas and Richard Meadows have set up a temporary home in an appartment in the town and Dave thinks this will be great for them. They will learn how to look after themselves and give them an insight in what it's like to be full time bike riders.
Last Sunday, they both rode a really big (4,500 riders!) Sportive with some big names riding. One of the names being Llaneras, the Worlds Points Champion. The route was pan flat and lo and behold Simon won it!! He averaged 44 KPH for the Sportive, which is pretty amazing for this time of year. Rich wasn't far behind either, but is saving himself a bit for the rest of the winter programme that Dave is setting the guys!! WELL DONE TO SIMON.... DAVE JUST WISHES HE COULD SPEND THE WINTER IN DENIA TOO !!!
DAVE IS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO 2009 AND THREE NEW RECRUITS IN PARTICULAR ARE CAUSING DAVE GREAT EXCITEMENT....
Matt Howitt has rejoined Dave after three years away due to work and Dave thinks Matt will really come good in 2009.
Julie Mann (now Cook) is a very special rider and can look forward to a super 2009.
Leda Cox is the "full package" according to Dave and has never been coached.. What a rider she's going to be next year..
Dave can't wait to get these three riders to the very top of their sport...
