THE GIRLS SHINE + DAVE'S UPDATE ...

Article Published : 28/04/09

Julie Cook Flat Out ...

THE GIRLS HAVE HAD SOME GREAT RIDES LATELY, AND THE "YOUNGER" MEN HAVE BEEN SHOWING HOW THINGS ARE DONE WITH WINS FROM TOM BOWERING AND CHRIS SHERRIFFS....

TOM had a double win a few weeks ago with an Open 10 Mile TT on the Saturday and a 2-Up 24 mile TT the following day. The 15 year old will now be concentrating on the Track ... He sure has a GREAT FUTURE AHEAD OF HIM!!

CHRIS had a great Friday evening last week at Manchester Velodrome when he WON the North West Junior Track Championship... Chris is a bit of an ace on the track and has been a regular at the Manchester Track League this winter.. Dave loves the Track and it really sharpens you up..  GOOD STUFF CHRIS !

Fiona Duncan scored her first win of the year with an outstanding victory in the Jason McIntyre Memorial 10 mile TT when she pushed out a 24'49" on a very hilly course... THE FIRST OF MANY FIONA !

Carole Gandy continued her best season for years after doing a 59 minute 25 last week she slammed the women's field on Saturday in the Catford 10 mile TT with a magnificent performance. Just 3 minutes behind the winning man, Carole did a 23'40" to take the Ladies, Vets and Handicap first prize... THAT'S THE CAROLE WE KNOW AND LOVE !

Julie Cook did all she could to win the Cheshire Classic with a CLASSIC move with 2 laps to go.. Definitely the strongest woman in the field (Julie is climbing as strong as anyone Dave has ever seen) it was not to be .. In a very negative race, Julie was brought back and the normal bunch sprint in the Cheshire Classic finished the race.... However, novice Road Racer Kara Chesworth showed just how good SHE is (and is going to be a LOT better yet) when she fought out a very close second place gallop to finish 5th by inches .... GREAT RIDE BY BOTH GIRLS ....

MESSAGE AND "UPDATE" FROM DAVE ......

After working with my Computrainer for the last number of years, I am about to invest in a brand new, state of the art Computrainer.. THE COMPUTRAINER LAB version.. This is an expensive tool , but super accurate and has the ability to do a lot more than an ordinary Computrainer. I will be able to do sub-maximal tests to work out your "Functional Threshold Power". I can do a hard work out to get your "Maximum Aerobic Power". The old and best Ramp test will always be the favourite (not yours obviously!!).... I will also be able to find out your Aerodynamic Coefficient and adjust your position to optimise this.... I can also offer you a Spin Scan to work out if your legs are working at the same power output and if there is a big discrepancy, we can put that right.

These extra tests will cost more , and I have yet to work out how much, but they can become a part of the Consultation package and I will be able to advise if any of them are applicable to each athlete in each case... This is a very exciting piece of Hardware and does the job with SUPER ACCURACY, as the Computrainer Lab is the MOST accurate of the Computrainer range.. I will also call on the experience of my old friend and Computrainer expert, Malcolm Firth to set the whole thing up for me, so, before too long the tests will be up and running..

I have also invested in a Garmin 705 Edge and once I get my head around the complexities of this VERY powerful bike Computer, I will be reporting back to you all on it's efficacy. I think it is a FANTASTIC training tool and will be working with it personally from now on in all my training rides... So, as I say.. WATCH THIS SPACE!!

STOP PRESS ....

I HAVE ONLY BEEN USING THE GARMIN FOR A WEEK AND BELIEVE ME, THIS IS THE BEST TOOL FOR TRAINING I HAVE EVER USED... ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT !! I AM TRYING TO GET A DEAL ON THEM FOR YOU GUYS IF YOU'RE INTERESTED .. CHECK THE 705 OUT ON... http://www.cyclepowermeters.com/garmin-705-edge-hrcadence-454-p.asp

I still have to report on several new bits of kit and most exciting of all, a new drink we have been experimenting with HERBALIFE at the Prep Camp .. This is one SUPERB drink and it got me through 8 hour rides without any other food or drink... A BRILLIANT NEW DRINK , and so effective....

So, as you can tell, I still work my butt off for you guys and I just enjoy the Sport so much it's absolutely no hassle for me.. I love new innovations and things that really work to make your training better and more time efficient.. I will keep pushing the envelope with everything I do in this wonderful Sport that is, and always has been... "MY LIFE"....

I WILL BE REPORTING BACK VERY SOON, SO KEEP COMING BACK TO CHECK  !!
