YOU GUYS NOMINATED THE TOUR OF IRELAND 4 DAY SPORTIVE AS YOUR NUMBER ONE SPORTIVE EVER... SO WHY HAVN'T YOU ENTERED IT ?
I was at the launch of this ground breaking event two years ago when it was first run. I was there with Dame Mary Peters and Sean Kelly, and the first year was a whopping success.. Four stages on CLOSED ROADS throughout the North and mainly South of Ireland.. It was just amazing with 365 Guarda police on motorbikes keeping the roads clear for us. It must have been a logistical nightmare for Joe and Marc Barr, who's baby this is... But it went smoothly and the accomodation was superb, the food better and the cameraderie second to none...
I have written a training piece you will see on the Tour of Ireland Site about how to train for the event whatever your ability. This should help anyone build up for the event and have no excuses for not riding the 2009 version...
Unfortunately, due to my injuries from my horrendous crash in Spain at my training camp, I was forced to miss this years event, much to my deep dissappointment. But I heard it was EVEN BETTER than last year. Now that is really saying something. I put on my own Sportive for the first time this year, and you wouldn't believe the work involved, so to put on a FOUR DAY SPORTIVE with CLOSED ROADS is beyond my imagination ..
Entries are slow at the present moment and things are on a tight schedule for Marc and Joe and THEY NEED YOUR ENTRY...
SO, COME ON YOU GUYS.... SUPPORT THIS SUPERB, UNIQUE, ONE OFF EVENT AND PLEASE ENTER .... WE JUST CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE SOMETHING AS PRECIOUS AS THIS SPORTIVE FROM THE CALENDAR.....
