"I had got back on the bike in 2002 after 11 years off and had got some good results with another coach, but felt I was doing the same thing week in week out and it was getting boring.
In December 2005 I decided I needed a fresh and back to basics approach. The Scientific training I had been doing previously was okay but was taking the feel and fun out of my riding.
After my initial consultation I was full of 'fire' and ready to go. I'd missed a good two months of the winter but was raring for the season. I started the season well but hadn't got the confidence to push myself harder in races. With Dave's continual motivation and support he gradually instilled that 'confidence' and I won 8 races in 5 weeks! 22 wins for the season and my other placings were all top 3, including two course records and Pb's. At 45 years old I was winning opens by 2-3 minutes.
With Dave's weekly training schedules, which arrive bang on time, and his adaptation weeks I was able to keep my fitness and motivation for the WHOLE season. I won races every month from March through September.
Dave is a real coach who PHONES YOU to find out how the race went. He is never too busy to talk and discuss things. If you do a 'bad' ride, after talking to Dave you have forgotten it and moved on to the next race.
When asked by other riders 'How have you improved?' I use Dave's phrase.' I push harder on the pedals. It is hard work with no quick fixes, but if you listen to Dave who will make you believe in yourself, IT WORKS!
The only drawback is I've had to buy a new bloody trophy cabinet!"
