1971 The Isle of Man
My second year as an amateur at one of my favourite places for the bike in those days ... The Isle of Man ... Oh, how things have changed. In the late 60's and early 70's this was an absolutely FANTASTIC week of racing.
Riders flocked there and the atmosphere was out of this world. I really loved the place and have some wonderful memories from the races ... Really happy days for me ... Let's be fair I won a hell of a lot over there, so I guess that has something to do with it.
But, sincerely it WAS a wonderful week of racing and this particular pic was the 3-up Team Time Trial. It was over a really tricky 30 mile course and this is me towing Doug Dailey and Billy Whiteside for the last mile to win from the French team ... Happy Days for sure!!
