1974 Chequers Grand Prix
Another pic of the Chequers GP. Here I am rounding a slippery corner with Billy Bilsland on my wheel. This was a hard circuit and very wet.
I really forced the break in this race as it was one of the counting events towards the "Best Pro of the Year" competition, "The Pernod Trophy" ... I wanted the win badly, but Billy wouldn't help me.
So I was left to try to outwit my own team mate. Hard to believe, but there it is! By using some cunning I was able to put one over on the wily old pro and attacked on the final climb as there was a really dangerous finish.
I just managed to keep the bike upright on the last corner and get the win. Sometimes you have to take big risks to win an important event!
