This was a day of attrition, very windy and tough course adding to a really hard race ... The final group that emerged had 4 Holdsworthy riders, 3 Bantels and little old me the sole Raleigh rider.
I really wanted to win this one as my Mum and Dad had come to watch (rare occurrence).
I was totally outgunned in the break though, but when Nigel Dean pulled my jersey as I was lining up the sprint with about 500 metres to go. I really "saw red" and with a big adrenalin rush, I swiped Dean off and went for the line with 400 metes to go ... I looked round with 100 metres left, saw a HUGE gap and had the luxury to give a winner's "salute"! ... Very happy that day ...
