This was a Classic Time Trial taking in one lap of Lake Windermere . The organiser/ sponsor/ go-getter was a man called Gianni Berton and he is the greatest guy you'll ever meet.
We are still great friends even though the event is sadly no longer run ... I sort of put the race "on the map" when I became the first rider to beat the hour for a lap of Windermere, and every year Gianni organised a CONFRONTATION for me.
It must have cost him a small fortune ... We had Lloyd v. Webster ... Lloyd v. Curran ... Lloyd v. Butler and this particular pic was taken with Lloyd v. World Professional Pursuit Champion of that year, Tony Doyle ... and guess what?? Yipeee ... I won!
