Very strange this one ... Perhaps one of my better rides. The Anfield has changed so much as a course since 1982, and "back then" I didn't have Tri-bars, discs or anything of that sort.
Also the course was SO heavy, with chipping "B" roads in the main and no less than THREE dead turns in the road. I was really on song this day and won the event by 12 minutes and the course and event record by 11 minutes to record a 3.47.10.
This is one record that has eluded the likes of Gethin Butler (9 attempts) and Andy Wilko (8 attempts) and is STILL there ... I guess I will always hold the course record, but it's about time the Event record was taken ... After 24 years ... Weird or what?
