3-D PLUS Complete Rotor Chainset
Bike Accessories
As used by the Cervelo Test Team this year in the Giro and the Tour de France. The 3-D Rotor Chainset is setting new standards for innovation and technology... The use of "Q" rings has been getting more and more popular over the last few years and now Rotor have stepped things up by producing one of the stiffest, lightest and strongest cahinsets available. This, along with their radical "Q" rings makes for a revolutionary Chainset that Dave REALLY believes in....
STOP PRESS *** Dave has just taken delivery of the brand new Rotor 3-D Plus Chainset which at 475 Grams for the Cranks and BB is one of the lightest Chainsets out there... They are using oversized Ceramic Bearings on the BB to accomodate the oversize 30 mm axle which makes the Chainset SUPER STIFF and Dave has fitted this to his new Viner Maxima, so it should perform even better !!
“ Dave says : I have been a huge fan of "Q" rings for years now and this year I have been using the 3-D Chainset on all my bikes. I started by using the "Q" rings on my own Campag Super Record Chainset and that was a pretty neat solution. BUT, when Rotor brought out their 3-D chainset for 2010, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it and started using it in the winter..
This was a huge revelation to me. The Cranks were just SO stiff and light and looked really classy and rugged.. I loved them from the start. I now have them on all my bikes. They have now introduced a Titanium axle for an extra £150 and now a SAAB Bottom Bracket with Ceramic bearings. I think this is the ultimate Chainset and I would never go back to using anything else now I am "hooked" on Rotor and what I consider the ULTIMATE chainset.
It's not just the fact that these things look good and peform well though, the basic premise for the whole Rotor "thing" ids that the "Q" rings WORK and do what they say on the tin. Carlos Sastre used the rings to win the TDF and now the whole Cervelo team use them. The concept of what the rings do is now being aped by other manufacturers as you will see when Brad Wiggins uses his TT bike in the Tour. It is equipped with chainrings that do the same job that "Q" rings have been doing for years and that's to get you "over" that dead spot when you reach top dead centre of your pedal stroke and "nothing" is happening...
I SIMPLY CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY EVERYONE ISN'T USING THESE RINGS AND CHAINSET... THEY BENEFIT YOUR RIDING.. SO WHY AREN'T YOU USING THEM ???
I am now using the brand new ROTOR 3-D PLUS CHAINSET.... This is a Super Stiff, lighter and stroger chainset than the Standard 3-D and has a 30mm Axle and is TRIPLE DRILLED down the length of each Crank for extra lightness.. I am also using the COMPACT CRANKS to enable me to use a smaller inside chainring for those super steep climbs !! This just adds even more to the already SUPERB VINER MAXIMA ... LOOK OUT THIS YEAR... DAVE'S ON THE SPORTIVE RAMPAGE!!
THE NEW ROTOR 3-D PLUS CHAINSET WITH CHAINRINGS AND CERAMIC BB COSTS £550.00
